Version 3.11 – Outbound HL7 Messaging

Stat will now automatically create outbound HL7 messages for internally created documents. The HL7 will contain an embedded PDF version of the referral/report and a plain text version also in case the recipient system does not support embedded PDFs. To be sent electronically the following requirements must be met: 1. The document must be created internally in Stat 2. The document must belong to either the ‘Referral’ or ‘Report’ document type 3. The template must be marked as ‘Can be sent electronically’ a. Only available on ‘Referrals’ or ‘Reports’ b. Requires that at least one of the ‘Author User’ or ‘Author Provider’ data fields be used in the template (this is used to identify the sender) c. Requires that at least one of the ‘Recipient’ data fields be used in the template (this is used to identify the recipient) d. The template can also (optionally) contain fields from up to 5 CC data fields. 4. The ‘Message Transport’ must be configured for the practice (i.e. Health Link etc.) for outbound messaging, this is found in Setup. 5. The address book that you are using as the recipient and/or CCs must have their unique identifier entered for the appropriate message transport company. The next major release contains further improvements to track outbound HL7 messages. As of this release the tracking of the messages (as far as who has and hasn’t received their messages) will need to continue to be performed using the tools provided by the selected Messaging Transport company
